Swimming Lessons with Paisley Kite introduces sixteen year old wanna-be punk rock anti-hero Nina Finkleman. After deciding that a girl whose favorite things include Roberta Bondar, the periodic table of elements, and listening to music on headphones so loud that it sounds like you are at a rock show, has nothing in common with the other members of her group tour to Israel, she ditches them for her own itinerary. With a language barrier, no experience out of the suburbs and a chip on her shoulder the size of the Gaza Strip, she pits sNaCl versus C6H12O2 to figure out if changing her name to Paisley Kite was really the right idea.
Premiered 2004 at Ottawa Fringe Festival, and continued to Festivals in Toronto, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Victoria and Vancouver.
